AOIP Facilities

Eye InstituteThe Advanced Ocular Imaging Program (AOIP) is located on the 8th floor of the Eye Institute at the Medical College of Wisconsin.  Directions and additional visitor information can be found here.

Housed within the AOIP is a dedicated color vision testing suite. This space houses a variety of color vision tests including: C100, FM100, Farnsworth Panel 15, Lanthony's Desaturated D15, Nagel Anomaloscope, and pseudoisochromatic plates (AO-HRR, Richmond HRR 2004 edition, Dvorine, and Ishihara).  We are able to provide color vision testing services for outside providers which satisfy the requirements for many occupational testing protocols.

In addition, there is a fully-equipped research exam lane and 3 procedure rooms for OCT, fundus imaging, microperimetry, and visual field analysis. Currently available equipment includes two Bioptigen SD-OCT systems (one for upright patients, and a handheld system for pediatric imaging), an OPKO OCT/SLO with microperimetry, a Zeiss IOL Master, a Zeiss Cirrus HD-OCT 5000, a Zeiss VISUCAM non-mydriatic fundus camera, and a Humphrey Visual Field Analyzer.  There are 4 large adaptive optics imaging rooms with a central patient waiting area, providing easy access and efficient flow for high throughput imaging.  There is an optics development lab for the design, development, repair and construction of imaging equipment; it is fully equipped with standard optical and electrical testing equipment, backup optics, mechano-optical devices, and electronic components.  The lab space provides significant dedicated image processing workspace as well as space for software development.  There is separate office space, where we accommodate students (medical, graduate, and undergraduate), staff, and fellows. The shared office space is adjacent to the imaging labs, creating an excellent overall atmosphere for research.  A large conference room is available for weekly group meetings, seminars, and other special events.

The total dedicated research space housing the AOIP exceeds 3,000 ft2 . A schematic of our research space can be viewed below. Click the image below for a larger view.
