On Sunday, May 17, 2015, the Eye Institute "Star Pupils" will participate in the 7th annual Foundation Fighting Blindness (FFB) Wisconsin VisionWalk on Milwaukee's Lakefront. Proceeds from the VisionWalk support research into preventions, treatments and cures for people affected by retinitis pigmentosa (RP), macular degeneration, Stargardt disease and other retinal degenerative diseases.
"In our fifth year of participation, the Eye Institute is very proud to be a sponsor and participate as a team in the VisionWalk. FFB does so much to fund eye research, and it is great to support them as their mission is very similar to our own. We all want to help those with inherited retinal degenerations. I am delighted and excited to represent the Eye Institute as this year’s Medical Chair for the event. Let’s all get out and walk for sight!” said Kimberly Stepien, MD, Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and director of the Inherited Retinal Degenerations clinic.
The Eye Institute returns as the defending champion for the largest group, with a Wisconsin VisionWalk record of 140 participants in 2014.
