As a clinical research coordinator with the Eye Institute/AOIP, my current projects primarily focus on treatments for a variety of disorders including thyroid eye disease, central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO), and neovascular age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
Inspired by several excellent chemistry teachers in high school, I left my hometown of Freeport, IL to study at Marquette University, where I quickly became involved in a biochemical research project with the Department of Chemistry. Upon graduation I worked as the local manager of a medical scribe team for an emergency medicine physician group, which taught me a lot about the practice of medicine and really inspired me to continue working in healthcare. Working as a CRC here at the Eye Institute is a great fusion of my interests in research and patient care as well as in ophthalmology as a field. Outside of work I enjoy spending my time playing clarinet with a local wind ensemble, reading/watching sci-fi books/shows, and finding new restaurants to try in the Milwaukee area.
