ASA Endorsement Makes Us Part of the Simulation Education Network
The Anesthesia Simulation Program at the Medical College of Wisconsin is pleased to announce that it achieved the coveted endorsement of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA). In cooperation with the MCW STAR Center, the Anesthesia Simulation Program is one of an elite group of only 34 centers nationwide, and the only one in Wisconsin with such a distinction. The ASA endorsement is a symbol of an elite, top-quality, simulator-based training facility.
With the endorsement, MCW became a member of the Simulation Education Network (SEN), which is a network of ASA-endorsed simulation programs held in centers across the country to deliver training to anesthesiologists. The simulation courses, which are a requirement for the maintenance of certification in Anesthesiology (MOCA), are designed to realistically recreate challenging clinical cases to allow participants to problem solve in a manner that is similar to actual clinical experience.
Congratulations to Jutta Novalija, MD, PhD, whose efforts were responsible for the ASA endorsement!
