The general concepts of HIPAA are nothing new in healthcare. What is new are advances in electronic technology, which allow information to be communicated more widely and quicker than ever before. Many people are concerned about the privacy, security and use of their personal health information. As health care professionals, we have a long-standing commitment to patient privacy and should continuously being proactive with periodically reviewing the rules. This presentation is for MCW Faculty and Staff and contains an overview on the HIPAA regulations as well as a brief discussion into the necessary precautions surrounding the use of electronic devices.
