Center for the Advancement of Underserved Children The Center for the Advancement of Underserved Children (formerly Center for Advancement of Urban Children) is a cooperative endeavor between Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin (CHW) and the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). Its faculty and staff conduct community-oriented research and develops culturally-tailored initiatives to understand the current status of children’s health in Milwaukee, Southeastern Wisconsin and the Nation. Dr. Nelson Finds Athletes with Developmental Disorders More Likely to Have Concussions

May 13 - Lindsay Nelson, PhD, (Neurosurgery; Neurology) is lead author of a study published in the Clinical Journal of Sports Medicine that found that high school and college athletes with a history of developmental disorders such as attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder and learning disability are 2 to 3 times more likely to self-report having experienced multiple concussions than those without such history.
