The Center for the Advancement of Underserved Children (formerly Center for Advancement of Urban Children) is a cooperative endeavor between Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin (CHW) and the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). Its faculty and staff conduct community-oriented research and develops culturally-tailored initiatives to understand the current status of children’s health in Milwaukee, Southeastern Wisconsin and the Nation. MCW to participate in multi-site trial on non-operative management of uncomplicated pediatric appendicitis

Jan. 12 - Researchers at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Division of Pediatric Surgery, are conducting a study at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin to examine if non-operative management of uncomplicated pediatric appendicitis is effective and results in less disability and fewer complications as compared to traditional surgery. The non-operative management strategy consists of antibiotics alone without surgery.

This day in MCW history – Dec. 10, 1976

Dec. 9 - Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer, Inc., (MACC Fund) the Medical College of Wisconsin’s largest donor, was created on Dec. 10, 1976, the night recognizing the retirement of its founder, Milwaukee Bucks basketball player Jon McGlocklin.

MACC Fund offers many ways to support pediatric cancer research this holiday season

Dec. 9 - The MACC Fund (Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer, Inc.), MCW’s largest donor, is selling TODAY’S TMJ4 MACC*STAR ornaments to raise money for pediatric cancer and related blood disorder research.
