Degrees - A.A. in Accounting, B.A. in Healthcare Management
Joined MCW in July, 2005.
What brought you to MCW? I had been working at a manufacturing company in the purchasing department and didn't feel like my heart was in it. I wanted to be in an environment where I felt like I was helping people somehow, even if only indirectly.
What are your current responsibilities? My Center responsibilities focus around all of the administrative and financial type tasks for the Center and the BSL3 laboratories. I assist the faculty with grant preparation and submission, work on financial reporting and evaluation for grants and departmental funds, and manage Timelink, among other things. I also work part of my day in the department of Microbiology doing the same types of duties, and since the Center is part of the Department of Microbiology, my duties constantly overlap between areas.
Favorite thing about your position? It seems like my duties and the way they are performed are constantly evolving. I don't like to do a lot of repetition at my job, so I love having many different types of projects and duties to work on, and different people to work with.
Hobbies and outside of work interests? My children are 2 and 4, so right now most of my free time is focused around spending time with them - and I love that. I love being outside, going for walks, and doing anything in the water.
Interesting "Fun Fact"? I have an unusual ability to remember all the words to songs I have heard, but I usually have no idea what the name of the song is, or who sings it! I can also recite the alphabet backwards (I won the 4th grade class contest for the fastest backwards alphabet!) and I can recite the states in alphabetical order.
