Who is a candidate for ear surgery?
For the most part, this procedure is done on children between the ages of six and fourteen. Ears are almost fully grown by the age of five; therefore, the procedure can be performed before the child enters school. However, ear surgery for adults is also available.
What are possible side effects can I expect?
Side effects can include temporary numbness or loss of feeling in the area around the incision.
What does recovery entail?
Your head will be wrapped in a turban-type bandage that is worn for two to three days following surgery. you will be instructed to wear a ski-type headband over the ears at night after the turban is removed for at least two to three months.
Patients should also avoid contact sports for at least three months after otoplasty.
