NIH Transitioning to Adobe-Forms-C for SF424 Applications
The NIH is transitioning to updated electronic application forms packages for SF424 applications. The new packages will be identified with a Competition ID of FORMS-C and will include changes documented here: http://grants.nih.gov/grants/ElectronicReceipt/files/FORMS-C_Changes.pdf. With a few limited exceptions, the new forms will be required for all NIH applications with due dates on/after September 25, 2013. Historically, the 9/25 deadline is a lighter one for MCW investigators, but the 10/5 deadline shortly thereafter is generally our highest volume NIH cycle and thus the timing of these changes will impact many of our faculty.
There are a number of changes to several of the forms used in submitting an SF424 application, documented in the PDF linked above. The MCW GCO and eBridge teams have been working for several weeks now to make the necessary changes within eBridge for a seamless system-to-system submission of eBridge-generated SF424 applications. These changes will not be fully implemented into eBridge until September 7th. As such, if you are preparing an NIH application with a due date on or after September 25, 2013, please do not start, complete, or submit your eBridge Funding Proposal until after September 7, 2013.
For more information on the Adobe Forms C changes, see the NIH Notice at http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-13-074.html. The NIH has released an updated SF424 (R&R) Application Guide for the Adobe Forms C changes available here http://grants.nih.gov/grants/funding/424/index.htm. The new application instructions should be used with the Adobe-Forms-C applications.
