Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals, Inc.

Institutional Policy

GOAL AND INSTITUTIONAL COMMITMENT TO GRADUATE MEDICAL EDUCATION

The Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals, Inc. (MCWAH), its affiliated institutions and its graduate medical education (GME) programs are fully committed to GME.  They facilitate professional, ethical and personal development of the housestaff and support safe and appropriate patient care through curricula, evaluation and supervision.  MCWAH and its affiliated institutions provide the necessary educational, financial and human resources necessary to support GME and its housestaff assigned at all participating sites.

The goal of the GME is to train physicians in Primary Care and Specialties in which MCWAH offers ACGME accredited GME programs. It is expected that upon completion of training, the graduates will pass the appropriate Board certification examinations and enter practice or academia to practice, teach and advance knowledge through research.

This revised policy was approved by the MCWAH Graduate Medical Education Council on November 16, 2009 and the MCWAH Board of Directors on December 10, 2009.
