HOUSESTAFF HEALTH & WELFARE COMMITTEE (HHWC)

The Housestaff Health and Welfare Committee (HHWC) provides a forum for housestaff to communicate and exchange information on their educational and work environment, their programs, and other housestaff issues.

Annually, core residency programs shall elect a representative, and an alternate, to serve on the HHWC. The HHWC is co-chaired by a faculty member appointed by the Designated Institutional Official (DIO) and a housestaff member elected annually by the HHWC. The co-chairs are responsible for running the meeting and appointing a member to take minutes.

The HHWC meets quarterly. Faculty, MCWAH administrative staff and affiliated hospital representatives shall be available during part of each committee meeting to provide updates and to serve as resources to the Committee. The remainder of each meeting will allow for housestaff discussion in the absence of faculty, including the faculty co-chair, and MCWAH administrative staff.

Agenda items can be submitted to the MCWAH office. Minutes of the quarterly meeting are transcribed and circulated to all housestaff by MCWAH administrative staff.

This policy was approved by the MCWAH Graduate Medical Education Council on July 18, 2011.
