Mental Health Program/Employee Assistance Benefit

MCWAH is aware of the multiple demands of residency training.  In an effort to meet the unique needs of our housestaff, the Mental Health Program has been designed to assist MCWAH housestaff in obtaining the highest quality of psychiatric care in a confidential manner.  Coverage varies with the type of provider seen.  Residents who see Preferred Care Organization (PCO) clinicians for therapy are entitled to three free sessions per treatment year and $4,000 in outpatient coverage per policy year with a 10% co-payment.  PCO providers are members of the full-time or clinical faculty of the MCW Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine.  This policy also applies to spouses and children. Contact the Behavioral Health Center at 414-456-8933 for referral assistance or in cases of emergency, 24-hour coverage is provided by calling 414-507-9589.

Residents may also choose to see clinicians outside the PCO; but in that case, there are no free sessions and coverage is at the state-mandated level, which is $2,000 per policy year with a 10% co-payment.  Further information regarding your individual policy may be obtained by contacting the insurance company directly.

In addition, as part of the Long-Term Disability Insurance Plan provided to housestaff, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is also offered.  It is primarily an on-line referral service for such things as child care services, identify theft consultation, adoption resources, health clubs and fitness centers and other "work-life" services.  It also includes financial and legal information in addition to a program for completing a simple will.  Telephone consultation for referrals to support groups or community services is also provided.  There are no charges for these EAP services for MCWAH housestaff or their immediate family members.  Additional information concerning the EAP benefit is available at www.horizoneap.com.  Enter standard as the login ID.  Enter eap4u as the password.
