Welcome to the website for the Medical College of Wisconsin Institute for Health and Society.
The Institute is our department of population health sciences. Our mission is to improve health and advance equity through academic and community partnerships. We’re comprised of 24 faculty, 30 staff, and 19 PhD students.
In research, the Institute Biostatistics team is ranked 16th by US News and World report and yearly publishes nearly 100 scientific articles. Our Epidemiologists design and analyze registries and other large databases and do geo-mapping. We are launching population health research to improve the value of diabetes care and health outcomes. Our Bioethicists investigate the ethics of genomics, consult on complex cases in hospitals, and teach medical students about professionalism.
