July 2014 MCW Libraries Resource of the Month: Guide to Finding Biomedical Images
July 15, 2014 - Looking for just the right illustration for teaching? MCW Libraries’ electronic resources contain thousands of digital medical images including tables, figures, graphs, diagnostic radiograph images, anatomical illustrations and photographs. For a resource listing which includes free resource collections as well, visit MCW Libraries “Guides & Instruction” page, choose Resources for Finding Biomedical Images from the Special Topic Guides. Please check the usage policies for each resource before downloading any images and note any restrictions.
MCW Libraries featured image databases:
- AccessEmergency Medicine, AccessMedicine, AccessPediatrics, AccessSurgery - Images from textbooks are available under the Multimedia tab.
- ClinicalKey – Includes a large collection of searchable images from textbooks. Look for “Multimedia” on the top blue navigation menu.
- STAT!Ref – Collection of images from textbooks. Go to “Advanced Search” to search only images.
- VisualDx - a unique mobile and desktop application for diagnostic accuracy, patient engagement, and medical education. Features more than 25,000 medical images that may be used in presentations. Guidelines for using images in educational and non-commercial settings are available.
