The first new medical school campus in the state of Wisconsin in more than 100 years opened its doors to an inaugural class of 26 students the first week of July 2015.

Governor Walker Declares July 1, 2015 as MCW - Green Bay Day

July 1 - In recognition of the opening of our new campus, MCW-Green Bay, Governor Scott Walker signed a proclamation declaring July 1, 2015, MCW-Green Bay Day. The inaugural class of 26 medical students started orientation today in MCW-Green Bay's classroom and administration space, located in the new Gehl-Mulva Science Center at St. Norbert College.

MCW participates in Bellin College Simulation Center ribbon cutting

June 30 - On Thursday, June 25, Bellin College hosted a ribbon cutting and open house for its newly completed Health Sciences Resource Center at the College’s Eaton Road Campus in Green Bay. The 8,500 square-foot expansion includes a birthing suit, an emergency room/intensive care suite, a pediatric suite and a surgery suite to provide students with an opportunity to learn from simulated experiences.

June 29 - WITI-TV profiled a local woman who was treated for a type of leukemia with a bone marrow transplant from a donor, and whose husband became donor himself. Ehab Atallah, MD, associate professor of medicine (hematology and oncology), was her physician and was interviewed for the story. WITI-TV

Incoming Medical Student Receives Ministry Saint Michael’s Hospital Scholarship

June 10 - Phil Kostka, a recent St. Norbert College graduate who will be in MCW-Green Bay’s inaugural medical school class, received the 2015 Ministry Saint Michael’s Hospital Medical Staff Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded annually to a Portage County student who is pursuing a degree in a medical-related field. Stevens Point Journal

“Mock Medical School” Troubleshoots for High-Tech Difficulties

Mar. 25 - Dr. Matthew Hunsaker (MCW-Green Bay Campus Dean) told the Green Bay Press Gazette that 2,200 potential medical students have applied to MCW-Green Bay for the campus’s first class in July 2015. Mar. 4 - UW-Green Bay and Bellin College are teaming to sponsor “Life’s a Lab Reality Science Camp” for students in grades 10-12. The camp is targeted for students interested in careers in physical therapy, sports medicine, radiology, sports medicine, emergency medicine and research.
