Mar. 26 - The Agustin A. Ramirez, Jr., Family Foundation has pledged $1 million dollars to launch the Ramirez Lean Scholars Program, a joint initiative between the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) and the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) aimed at training a new generation of scholars in Lean healthcare management techniques.
Feb. 26 - The Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) of Southeast Wisconsin will hold a series of Science Cafés at the Milwaukee Public Library’s Central location that are free and open to the public. The theme of the 2015 series is “Focus on Health Disparities in Overall Health Outcomes,” and topics will include depression, oral health disparities, cancer survivorship, and unique stressors facing young adults with cancer.
Nov. 19 - The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) has received a two-year, $300,000 grant from the Department of Health and Human Services’ Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality to investigate the use of technology to improve patient and family-centered care and engagement.
Oct. 30 - MCW has received a four-year, $2.7 million grant from the National Cancer Institute to investigate the comparative effectiveness of two strategies aimed at reducing the use of ineffective or unproven breast cancer care. Wauwatosa Now
Oct. 20 - Dr. Ehab Atallah and Kathryn Flynn, PhD received a five-year, $3.4 million grant from the National Cancer Institute to investigate the use of tyrosine kinase inhibitors in treating chronic myeloid leukemia. Biz Times

June 10 - U.S. News & World Report has ranked Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in all 10 specialties in the new 2014-15 Best Children’s Hospitals rankings. This ranking is just one of a number of awards that recognizes Children’s as one of the top children’s hospitals in the nation.
