Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin makes list of top health systems

May 7- The Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin health network’s three hospitals have been collectively recognized as one of the top 20 medium size health systems in the nation by Truven Health Analytics, an independent firm that evaluates hospitals and health systems.

Ramirez Family Foundation pledges $1 million to improve healthcare quality and reduce costs

Mar. 26 - The Agustin A. Ramirez, Jr., Family Foundation has pledged $1 million dollars to launch the Ramirez Lean Scholars Program, a joint initiative between the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) and the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) aimed at training a new generation of scholars in Lean healthcare management techniques.

Science Café series to be held at Milwaukee Public Library

Feb. 26 - The Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) of Southeast Wisconsin will hold a series of Science Cafés at the Milwaukee Public Library’s Central location that are free and open to the public. The theme of the 2015 series is “Focus on Health Disparities in Overall Health Outcomes,” and topics will include depression, oral health disparities, cancer survivorship, and unique stressors facing young adults with cancer.

Researcher to investigate effective health information technology implementation

Nov. 19 - The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) has received a two-year, $300,000 grant from the Department of Health and Human Services’ Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality to investigate the use of technology to improve patient and family-centered care and engagement.

Grant to fund evaluation of breast cancer treatment reporting

Oct. 14 - The Medical College of Wisconsin has received a five-year, $3.4 million grant from the National Institutes of Health’s National Cancer Institute to investigate the use of tyrosine kinase inhibitors in treating chronic myeloid leukemia.
