MCW – Milwaukee Selection Factors


  • Academic Achievement
  • MCAT scores (taken within 3 years of potential matriculation date)
  • Personal Statement
  • Letters of Recommendation
    • Undergraduate Letters: Committee letter, packet of letters, or 2 separate letters from classroom professors, 1 of which must have taught biology, chemistry, or physics.
    • Graduate Letters: Students currently enrolled in graduate school must submit 2 letters, 1 from a professor or thesis advisor and the other from the dean or department chair including a statement indicating they are aware the student is applying to medical school. Students previously enrolled in graduate school are required to submit 1 letter of recommendation from a professor. Students recently accepted to graduate school must submit 1 letter from the dean or department chair including a statement indicating they are aware the student is applying to medical school.
    • Optional Letters: Not required. These should be listed on the secondary application and arrive before the application is complete. Generally an optional letter is personal or professional in nature.
