MEDICAL STUDENT ORIENTATION PREVIEW

Orientation Preview

2017 MCW-Milwaukee Medical Student

LEARN. LIVE. CARE. CURE.

Tomorrow’s Healthcare Starts Here

Welcome to MCW! We are looking forward to seeing you at Orientation week. Resources to help you prepare for matriculation into the MCW Medical School are available on this site.

Orientation week is foundational to your success as a student at MCW and will provide you with information vital to your matriculation that is not covered elsewhere in the curriculum. The week will set the tone for your academic career and highlight expectations of you as a student, as well as provide the opportunity to get to know your classmates.

Orientation week is a required activity. Accepted students who fail to appear within 60 minutes following the start time during the first morning of Orientation week will automatically surrender their spot in the matriculating class. MCW reserves the right to make exceptions to this mandate in rare, compelling circumstances as determined by the Associate Dean for Student Affairs or designee.

Purpose

The 2017 MCW-Milwaukee Medical Student Orientation Preview Site is designed to communicate important information to prospective and admitted students as it becomes available prior to the opening of the official Orientation Website – available on the learning platform D2L.

The official Orientation Website is where admitted students will submit required documents, forms and required information. It will contain important instructions and contact information.  Admitted students will be provided with D2L access in late spring/early summer.

We invite prospective and admitted students – as well as parents, spouses and significant others – to consult the Orientation Preview website for the latest general Orientation information. This site answers many common questions regarding schedules and deadlines and provides insight into planning a move to the Milwaukee area and matriculation at MCW-Milwaukee.

The Orientation Preview Site will announce the date of the opening of the D2L site once determined – estimated for early to mid-summer.

How to Use This Site

The Orientation Preview Site is divided into categories with new categories being published as they become available.

  • The newest announcements are always listed at the top of each category and will be indicated by appearing in blue print. Previously published items will appear in black print.
  • Links to existing, more detailed MCW sites are provided where appropriate.

Questions

  • Questions related to specific categories may be addressed to the contact person/office/email listed in each category.
  • General questions about Orientation may be addressed to Sue A. Haldemann, PhD at shaldema@mcw.edu
