Financial Assistance

Several major competitive scholarships are available to students who contribute to the diversity of the student body and have outstanding academic credentials. For Wisconsin residents, the Dean's Scholarship reflects the College's commitment to ensure that students from diverse backgrounds have an opportunity to pursue their career goals in medicine. Other scholarships available and open to both Wisconsin and out-of-state residents include the Presidential Scholarship and the Advanced Medical Opportunity Scholarship. In addition to these, the Wisconsin Energy Corporation Foundation Endowment and the Hearst Foundation Endowment were recently established to provide financial support to deserving students.

Scholarships are also funded through several clinical departments for students from diverse backgrounds who possess outstanding academic credentials. Students who would like to be considered for any of these scholarships should contact the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs/Diversity. Institutional financial assistance is comprised of need-based scholarships, interest-deferred loans and federal loans (i.e. Stafford loan program). The Office of Student Financial Services provides assistance to students completing their financial aid application. Application fee waivers for financially disadvantaged applicants are available for those who have received an AMCAS fee waiver. Students are encouraged to contact the Office of Admissions as questions or concerns arise. In addition, students do not have to be accepted to begin the financial aid process; however, a clean credit report is required of all students prior to matriculation.
