There are a variety of medical conditions that are associated with or may cause feeding problems in children. If you suspect that a medical etiology for feeding difficulties is present than a thorough medical assessment should be completed prior to attempting any other intervention(s).
The child should be referred to a specialist for treatment when the necessary intervention is beyond the provider's scope of care.
