Support Global Health
The MCW Office of Global Health was established with an investment of start-up funds provided by MCW. We invite opportunities to advance the great efforts we have made to advance global health efforts in education, clinical care, community engagement, research.
We are actively engaged in obtaining additional resources to support global health efforts and there are many:
Medical Student Travel Scholarships
Scholarships helps MCW assist students to travel countries with diverse resources to experience settings outside of the United States. Students are motivated to serve global patients and to come back to the US to serve their communities. This is a fourth-year elective, typically covering a few weeks.
Giving level: $1,000 and up
Medical Spanish Course for Medical Students
Throughout their careers, regardless of where they choose to practice, Medical College of Wisconsin graduates will have to communicate on several levels with patients whose only language is Spanish. An elective in Medical Spanish will train students in medical vocabulary needed for basic communication with
Spanish-speaking patients. In addition to language skills, the course includes exploration of Spanish culture and the impact of this culture on the interaction between the Spanish-speaking patient, their family and the health care system. Funds will be used to hire an instructor and provide associated costs for the course.
Giving level: $3,000
