Research at MCW

The Medical College of Wisconsin's research program is comprised of three elements:

  • Research infrastructure for all investigators
  • Expertise in fundamental technologies and experimental approaches
  • Multidisciplinary teams pursuing research in areas of clinical relevance

We build on our research areas of strength and cultivate new ones by:

  • Strengthening research in cancer and blood diseases, and cardiovascular diseases
  • Using a targeted investment/growth strategy to promote advances and discoveries in digestive disease, kidney diseases, neurological and psychiatric diseases, and inflammation, immunology and infectious diseases
  • Establishing criteria to identify new areas for programmatic and interdisciplinary research
  • Developing leadership in strategically defined areas of opportunity
  • Providing a superior research infrastructure with state-of-the-art instrumentation and sustaining a set of core facilities to support the fundamental technologies and experimental approaches of genetics and genomics, proteomics, imaging, structural biology, clinical and translational research, and population, behavioral and outcomes research; all of which facilitate the development of our key research programs
