Medical College of WisconsinToday, the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) is a private, independent, medical school located on the campus of the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center (MRMC). In addition to the Medical College, the 248 acre campus contains six teaching affiliates: Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Milwaukee County Medical Complex, Froedtert Hospital, Curative Rehabilitation Center, Milwaukee County Mental Health Complex, and the Blood Center of Southeastern Wisconsin. The Medical College moved into the $42 million Medical Education Building in 1978 and became the heart of the Milwaukee Medical Center. 
 
The Medical College of Wisconsin has approximately 4,950 faculty and staff of which 4,725 work on the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center campus and 225 work at 18 other health care facilities in eastern Wisconsin. The College is the 11th largest private employer in metro Milwaukee.
There are 1,235 students enrolled in education programs at the Medical College. This includes 795 medical students and 440 graduate students. Through the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals the Medical College faculty supervise approximately 650 physicians in residency training and 175 physicians in fellowship training.

For federal research funding support, the Medical College of Wisconsin has been ranked 46th among the nation's medical schools for NIH research funding. In 2007, the College received $92.3 million for NIH research funding. Annually, College faculty direct or collaborate on approximately 3,000 research studies and publish more than 1,300 scientific papers in peer-reviewed medical journals.

The Department of Otolaryngology and Communication Sciences was established on July 1, 1998. The Department is committed to the ongoing training, research, and education of medical students, residents, community and international physicians, as well as, allied health professionals including nurse practitioners, audiologists, and speech

Not only does the Department have all of the otolaryngology-head and neck surgery subspecialties represented: otology, neuro-otology, and cranial base surgery; head and neck oncology; facial plastic and reconstructive surgery; pediatric otolaryngology; rhinology; laryngology; and adult and pediatric general otolaryngology, it also has the largest otolaryngology group in the State of Wisconsin along with the largest number of fellowship trained subspecialists in the State.

Currently there are 25 faculty members: 19 physicians and physician-scientists, and 6 PhD scientists.
