Global Health Elective Preparation

The Comprehensive Global Health Elective Preparation Packet has most everything you will need for your international elective. However there are a few additional resources included below:

Note:  DO NOT purchase your flight or make other travel arrangements until your elective has been approved by MCWAH.

Department of Pediatrics Requirements:
The following policy will be in place for CHW resident global health electives:

  • Global health electives are available only for 1 month to PGY-3 residents who enrolled as interns in the Pediatric Global Health Training Track and met the minimum track requirements
  • Global health elective plans need to be submitted at least 3 months prior to the elective and no later than July 1st of the PGY-3 year
  • Global health electives must provide daily supervision on-site and be approved by both CHW/MCW residency and MCWAH leadership

Please refer to the MCW/CHW Pediatric Residency Training Program Global Health Elective Policy for further information regarding global health elective policies.

First apply to the CHW/MCW Residency leadership by completing the International Elective Application.  If approved, then MCWAH paperwork should be completed.
