Program Information
The Hematology/Oncology/Blood and Marrow Transplant Division is comprised of 21 clinical faculty members and 13 advanced practice nurses and physicians assistants who provide treatment for infants, children, teens, and young adults with cancer, non-malignant blood diseases, immunodeficiency states, and bleeding disorders. Our fellowship program offers innumerable clinical opportunities in collaboration with Children's Hospital of Wisconsin's state of the art health care facilities and numerous sub-specialty focused clinics offered within the MACC Fund Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.
There are 11 research faculty within the Hematology/Oncology/Blood and Marrow Transplant Division alone, plus various other researchers within the Department of Pediatrics and among our affiliated research programs available to mentor our fellows. Many are nationally and internationally known for their ongoing research. There are countless opportunities for exposure in translational, basic, clinical, and applied research projects. The many research associations available on campus offer a diverse selection of research paths for the fellow to choose from.
In addition to clinical and research rotations, there are a variety of conferences within the section and institution wide to enhance the fellows' learning opportunities.
Fellows are offered the opportunity to also pursue a master's degree in public health, clinical and translational science, or bioethics. Our program is unique in that the Department of Pediatrics at the Medical College assists with tuition costs for a master's program for fellows.
