Preliminary Year

  • The Medical College of Wisconsin and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin are pleased to offer two positions in a preliminary internship in Pediatrics. This one-year position is available for candidates who require a preliminary year before entering another residency program.
    • Previous preliminary residents have entered the following residencies after their preliminary year:
    • Dermatology
    • Anesthesiology
    • OB/Gyn
    • Neurology
    • PM&R
    • Radiology
    • Ophthalmology
  • The curriculum and experience is identical to that of a PL-1 categorical resident except for the continuity clinic experience
  • For continuity clinic, the preliminary residents are encouraged to spend a half day per week in the clinic or major clinical setting of their field
  • Residents in all fields have found the experience to be extremely valuable in their future specialties
