Student LIFE

As a student at MCW’s Pharmacy School, you are training to become an integral member of the healthcare continuum, focused on increasing access to patient care while contributing to better outcomes.

Whether your complete your entire MCW pharmacy education at the MCW-Milwaukee Campus, or you choose to complete your clinical training with one of our clinical partners in Green Bay or Central Wisconsin, you will be learning from and alongside renowned faculty, including clinicians at some of the top hospitals in the country, such as Froedtert Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and the Zablocki VA Medical Center.

Froedtert Hospital Internships

Froedtert Hospital is a 550-bed academic medical center with a level 1 trauma center located in Milwaukee, WI. Froedtert is a nationally ranked as one of “America’s Best Hospitals” by the US News & World Report’s. The goal of Froedtert’s internship program is to foster the professional development of highly motivated student pharmacists. Our internship training is designed to provide students with the skills necessary to become well-rounded clinical pharmacists. A student pharmacist who has completed a hospital based internship program will have a competitive advantage in the job market upon graduation from pharmacy school, especially if planning to complete a pharmacy residency. graduation requirements

Candidates for the Doctor of Pharmacy degree must: 

  1. Complete the required number of professional Doctor of Pharmacy degree credits. 
  2. Complete the courses required in the professional pharmacy curriculum, including the required number of professional electives, selected from the list of approved elective courses. 
  3. Complete the Scholarly Pathways requirements as defined by the Pharmacy School. 
  4. Pay all fees and financial obligations to the institution.
  5. Maintain technical standards for admission, promotion and graduation. 
  6. Be recommended for the degree by the Progression Committee.
  7. Complete the requirements of the Doctor of Pharmacy degree within 5 years of matriculation. 

The requirements for graduation, including policies and specific courses, are subject to periodic review and may be changed from time to time as determined by the MCW Pharmacy School. 

innovative 3-Year Program

MCW is one of the few pharmacy schools in the country offering a three-year Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree. Our innovative program will provide you with early and extensive exposure to a variety of clinical settings and world-class research in specialties such as precision medicine, pharmacogenomics, cancer and psychiatry. The MCW Pharmacy School accepts the PharmCAS application, available July 18, 2018. The final application deadline is May 1, 2019. All prerequisite classes must be completed by June 30, 2019. Qualified applicants will be offered the opportunity to interview at the MCW Pharmacy School starting in the summer of 2019.  Applicants who successfully complete both the application and interview may be offered provisional admission to the MCW Pharmacy School.
