Meet Bud Beatty, PhD

"It is important to immerse the student into the learning process in a way that will allow them to become engaged, inquisitive, and reflective learners. This is particularly true in pharmacy education. As the profession continues to evolve, so must the way pharmacy students are educated. Students can no longer afford to be the passive recipients of knowledge. They must be able to process knowledge, apply advanced levels of critical thinking, and master skills that are critical to the overall health of their patients."

“Effective teaching and mentoring encourages students to look beyond what is taught, emboldens them to ask “why” and to push for greater meaning and understanding, and challenges them to embrace learning as a life-long process.”

Prior to his appointment at MCW, Dr. Beatty served as the Interim Dean and Associate Dean for Academic Programs at the Roosevelt University College of Pharmacy. Dr. Beatty has over 35 years of experience in higher education, and, along with Dr. MacKinnon, helped create and launch the Roosevelt University College of Pharmacy.
