I was born and raised in Wisconsin prior to leaving the state for graduate and medical school. I began a joint MD and PhD program in Cleveland, Ohio in 2001 where I was able to combine my medical education with focused time for research. During my research years I studied drug resistance in malaria and several bacterial species. It was during my last years of medical school in Cleveland when I discovered my love of Emergency Medicine. After four years in beautiful Colorado during residency, I wanted to come back to the state and people I call home.
It is truly an honor and privilege to be able to practice Emergency Medicine. Often our patients are with us during some of the worst times of their lives and rely on our expertise and compassion to get them through a very difficult experience. It is very important to my practice that I not only focus on the clinical medicine that is paramount to patient care, but also pay attention to the education, social support networks and empathy that my patients need in the healing process. We are very fortunate at Froedtert to have large health care team in the Emergency Department, as well as a seemingly limitless network of incredible health care providers available in the care of our patients.
