Two Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) female faculty researchers were honored at MCW’s annual Women in Science Awards Luncheon on October 25, 2012. The luncheon, held at the Medical College, was the final event in the sixth annual Women in Science series, and was presented by Quarles & Brady and Dr. Lucille Rosenberg. The awards included a $10,000 research award to an established scientist and the $1,000 Edward J. Lennon, MD award to an outstanding woman postdoctoral researcher.
Recipients of the Women Pioneers in Research awards for 2012 are: Nancy Dahms, PhD, professor of biochemistry at MCW, and Anne R. Diers, PhD, postdoctoral fellow in biophysics. Dr. Dahms, a member of the Medical College’s faculty since 1989, will receive a $10,000 research award. Dr. Diers will receive the $1,000 Edward J. Lennon MD award for outstanding woman postdoctoral researcher. Dr. Lennon was a former dean and president of MCW.
The Women in Science luncheon series offers the public an opportunity to meet and hear interesting research by outstanding female scientists and physicians and to raise awareness of outstanding local women researchers. The seventh annual luncheon series kicks off in April 2013.
