The MCW OTD nurtures intellectual creativity, stimulates research, develops and protects intellectual property, transfers intellectual property to entities best equipped to develop and take the product to market, strengthens the Medical College of Wisconsin brand with the business community, and contributes to the overall health and well-being of the region and the nation.

The last two years have brought many positive changes to the MCW OTD.  Our new mission reflects an aspirational OTD which is revitalized and dynamic.  The OTD is housed administratively within the Office of Research to better support our faculty, postdoctoral fellows, students and staff in their innovative endeavors.  With an increased focus on the “faculty service” aspect of our mission, as endorsed by MCW senior leadership, we will support the transfer of new technologies into commercial products, the returns to the College being measured in both financial and non-financial terms.
