What resources are available to assist me with my grant application?

The Office of Research provides support for writing grant applications in addition to providing assistance with the submission process.  These services are summarized below, and include a reference to a source for NIH tips.

Pre-Proposal Resource Office

The mission of the Pre-Proposal Resource Office is to:

  1. Provide enhanced pre-proposal investigator support for grant submissions with special emphasis on NIH training (T), fellowship (F), and career (K) mechanisms.

  2. Provide central support for grant preparation activities.

  3. Identify strategic alliances within MCW and facilitate collaborations among investigators, mentors, and other organizations.

Email ProposalResource@mcw.edu or visit the P-PRO web site.

Grant Boilerplate

Grant boilerplate, templates, and sample language are available from the Pre-Proposal Resource Office for topics such as: responsible conduct of research, biosketches, facilities and resources, and institutional data. Boilerplate language is also available for NIH Career, Fellowship, Research and Training Grants. Visit the Boilerplate web page on the P-PRO site.

Submitting Your Application Through eBridge

eBridge Training

Most grant applications must be submitted via eBridge, a web-based software application. MCW’s Research Education offers hands-on training on how to use eBridge to submit your Funding Proposal. Visit Research Education’s web site eBridge Training - Funding Proposals for more information and to register for a class.

eBridge Procedure Guides

The Office of Grants & Contracts (GCO) provides Procedures Guides which offer specific instructions on submitting grant applications. Visit the GCO site Procedure Guides and select the appropriate guide for the type of grant you wish to apply for.

NIH All About Grants Podcast

The Office of Extramural Research (OER) presents conversations with NIH staff members. Designed for investigators, fellows, students, research administrators, and others, we provide insights on grant topics from those who live and breathe the information. In mp3 and updated monthly.

The podcasts cover topics such Preparing a Successful Grant Application and Understand How Your Grant is Reviewed.  Transcripts are also available.  Visit the web site: NIH All About Grants Podcast
