What platform and browsers work with eBridge?

The following information was updated from our vendor, Huron Consulting Group in October, 2013.

Computer Specifications

To use the eBridgeMCW application reliably, you will need the most current version of your operating system (please apply patches and updates from the vendor at weekly intervals).  We recommend Windows XP operating system.

Platforms

  • Microsoft Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, Server 2008 R2, and Server 2012 (Windows 8.1 not yet supported/validated; Windows Server 2012 R2 not yet supported/validated for purposes of browsing**)
  • Apple Mac OS X 10.6, 10.7, and 10.8 (OS X 10.9 Mavericks not yet supported/validated)
  • Apple iOS 5, 6, and 7 (iPhone and iPad)

Browsers

  • Internet Explorer: versions 8*, 9, and 10 (Internet Explorer 11 not yet supported/validated**)
  • Firefox: latest version
  • Chrome***: latest version
  • Safari: 5 or 6 (Safari 6.1 and 7 not yet supported/validated)
  • Firefox: latest version
  • Chrome: latest version

*When using Internet Explorer 8, there are times when Compatibility View mode may give better or worse results. For example, if you see misaligned tabs, turning on Compatibility View mode will usually correct the display. However, Compatibility View mode is not supported when working with Click Grids. Our recommendation is to use Internet Explorer 9 or 10.

**Internet Explorer 11 is not yet supported as we have had little time to test and correct issues. Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 come with Internet Explorer 11 by default. We support Windows Server 2012 R2 as the server OS for a Click Portal server, but we do not yet support Internet Explorer 11 for browsing Click Portal sites. Currently we know that Internet Explorer 11 must be used with Compatibility View turned on in order for the View editor to work. With Compatibility View turned on, Internet Explorer 11 may be usable as browser. We will declare it officially supported when we complete additional testing and release any needed fixes.

***If you install a theme in Chrome, vertical scrollbars might disappear in pop-up windows.

Other Recommendations

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader.  A free download at http://www.adobe.com.  Click on the Get Adobe Reader icon.
  • Up-to-date Java client.  A free download at http://www.java.com
  • Up-to-date virus scanner.  Ideally, this should be updated on a daily basis.
  • A fast connection to the internet/Web.  Standard modem dial-up connections will not perform at the needed level to attach or review documents.  We strongly suggest use of a broadband connection such as a cable modem (i.e., RoadRunner from Time Warner Cable) or a digital subscriber line (DSL) from a telephone company (i.e., SBC).
  • A word processor such as Microsoft Word or Word Pad will be needed for you to create text and spell check your work before pasting information into the eBridgeMCW application.
  • WinZip is required for unzipping the printer-friendly, Original Version of your approved study SmartForm. A free trial download at http://www.winzip.com/downwz.htm
