MCW’s research enterprise is focused on strategic, prioritized areas of research involving interdisciplinary collaboration among scientists and physicians with the goal of rapidly translating discoveries into advances for patient care. MCW faculty conducted more than 2,000 research studies, including clinical trials, in FY 2012. Specialized research centers comprising faculty from many areas of expertise include:

International Research Center

Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research

Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research collects and studies data on blood and bone marrow transplants worldwide.

National Federally Designated Research Centers

Center for AIDS Intervention Research (CAIR)

The Center for AIDS Intervention Research (CAIR) is a multidisciplinary HIV prevention research center.

Injury Research Center

The Injury Research Center at the Medical College of Wisconsin has been established to address injury prevention and control in the Great Lakes Region.

National Biomedical Electron Paramagnetic Resonance Center

The Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) Center at the Medical College of Wisconsin is one of the largest EPR facilities in the nation with instrument capabilities for many types of EPR experiments.

Crash Injury Research and Engineering Network (CIREN)

The Froedtert & The Medical College CIREN Center is sponsored by the administration of the Department of Neurosurgery, which includes clinicians, biomedical engineers, and research scientists with strong reputations in impact biomechanics. The CTSI is an innovative infrastructure to support and advance education, collaboration, and research in clinical and translational science.

Biotechnology & Bioengineering Center

The Biotechnology and Bioengineering Center's (BBC) five major areas of focus: Proteomics, Genomics, Computational Biology, Molecular Imaging, and Technology Development.

Cancer Center

Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center turns research into patient care, and conducts many clinical trials, giving patients the most innovative treatments available - and new hope to patients and their families. Clinical Cancer Center: (414) 805-0505.

Cardiovascular Center

Medical College of Wisconsin Cardiovascular Center translates biological science into clinical applications for care and treatment of patients.

Center for Imaging Research

Center for Imaging Research (CIR) The center was founded in 2002 as the Functional Imaging Research Center (FIRC) with the mission of uniting basic and clinical scientists of various disciplines to further the development and application of functional imaging in health and disease.

Center for Infectious Disease Research

The mission of the Center for Infectious Disease Research (CIDR), formerly known as the Center for Biopreparedness and Infectious Disease (CBID), is to enhance research efforts that focus on understanding the molecular mechanisms of pathogenesis related to infection with all types of microorganisms, viruses, fungi, or parasites.

Center for Patient Care and Outcomes Research (PCOR)

The MCW Center for Patient Care and Outcomes Research conducts research on patient care services and related health outcomes.

Children's Hospital of Wisconsin Research Institute

Children's Research Institute advances state-of-the-art pediatric health care through translational research programs.

Digestive Disease Center

The vision of the Medical College of Wisconsin's Digestive Disease Center is to achieve international scientific and lay recognition for leading edge digestive disease research, treatment and educational programs emphasizing novel state-of-the art therapies.

Human and Molecular Genetics Center (HMGC)

The Human and Molecular Genetics Center develops the critical research expertise and infrastructure required for MCW to be a leader in functional genomics.

Institute for Health and Society

The Institute serves as the academic home for several successful existing programs of the College, including the Center for Bioethics and Medical Humanities, the division of Biostatistics, the Healthier Wisconsin Partnership Program, and the Violence Prevention Initiative.

Midwest Children's Cancer Center

Founded in 1976, Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer, Inc. (the MACC Fund) is dedicated to funding childhood cancer and related blood disorder research.

Neuroscience Research Center

The Neuroscience Research Center was founded in 2010 with the goal of enhancing neuroscience research at MCW. Our overarching goal is to use a team approach to tackle neurological and psychiatric disorders.
