Biomedical Resource Center (BRC)
The Biomedical Resource Center provides core support for animal-based research and teaching at the college. The Center employs a veterinary staff and support technicians who work to sustain a high quality environment in which state-of-the-art animal husbandry and veterinary medical care are provided to the animal colonies.
The Center’s veterinary staff provides guidance to research personnel in handling, immobilization, anesthesia, surgery and post-surgical care, euthanasia, and other animal procedures, while at the same time working to prevent, control, diagnose, and treat diseases and injuries.
The Center partners with investigators, the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), and the Office of Research to ensure the humane treatment of animals, achievement of scientific objectives, and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and professional standards.
