Dr. Dean's major research interest involves the neural regulation of the cardiovascular system. In particular, her interests surround the central control and integrative aspects of the sympathetic nervous system. Current studies include electrophysiological, neuropharmacological and neuroanatomical approaches to examine mechanisms and pathways underlying the control of regional sympathetic outflow by neurons in the midbrain and brainstem under diverse conditions.
