Dr. Bai received a PhD in Cell Biology from Beijing University in China. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship in Stem Cells at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
Dr. Bai's research interest involves the potential clinical applications of stem cells and the cardioprotective effects of volatile anesthetics, with a particular emphasis on the effect of stem cell transplantation on cardiac function after myocardial infarction. Current studies focus on elucidating the mechanisms of protective effects of volatile anesthetics on stem cells and cardiomyocytes differentiated from stem cells. Additionally, molecular imaging methods are being developed to investigate the homing, engraftment, and survival of stem cells in vivo and signaling pathway.
