In February 2012, the Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center Bioenergetics Shared Resource was created, and is located in the Department of Biophysics.
The Bioenergetics Shared Resource is dedicated to cancer research by utilizing cutting edge technology to make advancements in the field. The Bioenergetics Shared Resource will be using in vitro techniques to measure different metabolic rates and new drugs in cancer cell treatment. The unique aspect about this Resource is the use of the Seahorse Bioscience XF-96 Extracellular Flux Analyzer. This will give both clinical and basic researchers the ability to measure different metabolic pathways all at once, making it more useful to gain more data with one run of these instruments compared to other techniques that are currently available.
