Ryan Spellecy, PhD

Associate Professor of Bioethics and Medical Humanities, and Psychiatry and Behavioral Health

Dr. Spellecy is Associate Professor of Bioethics and Medical Humanities, and Psychiatry in the Center for Bioethics and Medical Humanities at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he teaches in the Bioethics Master of Arts program. He received his PhD in Philosophy from the University of Utah. In addition to teaching, Professor Spellecy is also the chair of an Institutional Review Board at Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin; and serves on several local hospital ethics committees, including the committee at the Milwaukee County Behavioral Health Division. Professor Spellecy's publications, teaching, and research focus on ethical issues in mental illness and mental health, death and dying, the intersection of ancient Greek philosophy and modern debates in bioethics, and research ethics and integrity.
