Bioinformatics Program

The Bioinformatics Program has been working for the past several years on development of a common database and application infrastructure known as the Generic Clinical Research Database (GCRD), or Quality Control Management (QCM) as it is known within Froedtert Hospital.

Research Databases

The following databases have been built for Children’s Hospital using the GCRD system:

• Dermatology Hemangioma
• Dermatology Vascular Anomalies
• GI study
• WPCR (Wisconsin Pediatric Cardiac Registry)
• Cystic Fibrosis 
• Palisi

The following databases have been built for Froedtert Hospital using the GCRD system:

• Nephrology 
• Dermatology Vascular Anomalies
• Left Ventrical HyperGen disease (LVH) African Americans
• LVH Caucasians
• DiGeorge Syndrome
• Dillan Families 
• Marshfield
• IBD – Crohn’s Disease

Outcomes Analysis

Research data currently enters the system through web-based interfaces or developer data imports.  The Froedtert Hospital (FMLH) outcomes component pulls data into the warehouse from web-based interfaces, developer data imports, and data feeds from EPIC, Affinity, Dynacare, and hospital blood glucose meters. The application now contains data on over 84,000 patients.
