Developmental Biology

Most animals consist of a wide array of cell types which form tissues. All of these different cell types originate from a single cell resulting from the fusion of a sperm and egg. This is achieved through cell differentiation. In developmental biology we study the molecular and cellular mechanisms that regulate cell differentiation and control embryonic development.
