Rock Cancer Music Festival

Event was held Saturday, August 17, 2013

The Rock Cancer Music Festival, organized by the Spierings Cancer Foundation, will be held Saturday, August 17, at Doyle Park in Little Chute.

This day-long celebration of rock music and family fun begins at 10 a.m. with registration for a new event, the Rock Cancer Chalk Walk. This "chalk walk to remember" starts at 11 a.m.; participants are encouraged to write messages in chalk in honor of loved ones affected by cancer along the walk route.Rock Cancer Music Festival

Beginning at 1 p.m. and scheduled through to midnight, many area bands are scheduled to perform. The event also features performances by Wisconsin Strongman, inflatable toys, face painting, a dunk tank, food and refreshments, raffles and a silent auction.

Wrist bands, which are used to gain admission to all the activities, can be purchased for $5 at the event. VIP seating and a reserved picnic table are available by contacting Scott Van Deurzen, vandeurzen525@sbcglobal.net or (920) 858-6626.

Proceeds from the event support cancer research at the Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center.

The Spierings Cancer Foundation was founded in 2008 by Jim Spierings, a throat cancer survivor, to provide financial support for families affected by cancer, to enhance medical care for cancer patients in the Fox Cities, and to fund cancer research in Wisconsin. The Foundation has raised more than $300,000 since its inception. Last year, the foundation donated $3,000 for cancer research at the MCW Cancer Center.
