On September 5 and October 9 over 100 staff and faculty from MCW and Froedtert met to learn more about the MCW Cancer Center’s path to National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designation. Andrea Brown, MBA, the Associate Director of the MCW Cancer Center, gave two hour-long presentations to provide clarification and help dispel myths about NCI-designation, including what it is, what it is not, why it is important, what the process looks like... October was Breast Cancer Awareness Month and when local media sought out stories on the latest developments in breast cancer research and treatment, they looked to MCW and the Cancer Center for expertise and leadership. READ MORE>>
The Biostatistical Consulting Service (BCS) provides services and expertise that are critical to successful cancer research at MCW. The BCS is an essential resource for cancer investigators, the grant application and award process, and cancer research publication. The BCS is part of the College’s internationally renowned Division of Biostatistics under the leadership and direction of John Klein, PhD, one of the world’s foremost authorities on survivorship models and statistics. The Observational Methods Shared Resource provides information to support cancer research, grant application, and publication in high-impact journals, through access to specialized services and expertise in the use of large databases. This Shared Resource is valuable to Cancer Center members, particularly those with interest in Population Health, epidemiology, health services, and clinical trial design. READ MORE>>
The MCW Cancer Center monthly seminar series hosts national leaders in cancer research. The seminars are open to all MCW faculty and staff. READ MORE>>
The MCW Cancer Center administrative staff worked together to raise over $530 for the 2012 AHA Heart Walk and Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
