The MCW Cancer Center administrative staff worked together to raise over $530 for the 2012 AHA Heart Walk and Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Katie Glisch, administrative assistant at the MCW Cancer Center, suggested a lunchtime Baked Potato Bar fundraiser to support the MCW Cancer Center’s Heart Walk Team, “Hearts Cancer-Vive,” and to raise funds to contribute to the Froedtert Breast Care Center‘s Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Team.
On Tuesday, September 18th, Cancer Center staff held the Baked Potato Bar in the MCW Cafeteria lobby at the Medical Education Building. Each member of the Cancer Center administrative team contributed potatoes, toppings or materials, and worked together to plan, promote, and run the event.
Asking for a $5 contribution per potato, the event was a great success, with almost 100 people participating. The team decided to extend the event to a second day and raised an additional $75. The grand total raised over both days was $537.
The MCW Cancer Center made a $300 contribution to their Heart Walk Team, meeting their fundraising goal of $400. They donated the remaining $237 to the Froedtert Breast Care Center’s Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure team.
The Cancer Center Administrative team is grateful to everyone who made a donation and helped with this event.
