Bill Stone Golf Classic
Bill Stone was diagnosed with lymphoma in March 2006 and passed away only 15 months later. He was 59. At the time of his death, Bill was a vice president at Gilbane Building Company and his colleagues searched for a way to honor his memory and his courageous battle against cancer. They chose to organize a golf tournament and donate the proceeds to cancer research at the Medical College of Wisconsin. In two years, they have raised more than $80,000. These funds have been used to create the William E. Stone Endowed Fund for Cancer Research.
