Sam Memorial Fund Events
For eleven years, the Sam Memorial Fund has been hosting two events to honor Sam Beres' memory and raise support for the work of David A. Margolis, MD, Associate Professor of Pediatrics (Hematology-Oncology) at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Sam was diagnosed with AML Leukemia at the age of four, underwent a bone marrow transplant from an unrelated donor in January 2000, and passed away in April 2000 at the age of six. The 10th Annual Sam Beres Memorial Walk/Run and the 2008 golf outing together raised more than $30,000 for leukemia research at the Cancer Center. The Medical College of Wisconsin is grateful to the many volunteers and participants, especially Sam’s mother, Cathy Vogel, and St. Agnes Parish in Butler, WI, for their continued support and these recent generous donations.
