Wisconsin Breast Cancer Showhouse
The Wisconsin Breast Cancer Showhouse was founded in 1998 as an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) charitable organization by Nancé Kinney, a breast cancer survivor. Its mission is to support breast cancer and prostate cancer research at the Medical College of Wisconsin. The Showhouse raises funds year-round through a variety of unique and exciting events. The center of these events is the Showhouse for a Cure. Dozens of local interior designers, landscape artists and artisans contribute substantial time, talent and furnishings to make each Showhouse spectacular.
The 2011 Showhouse and supporting events realized $325,000 and the Showhouse's contributions to the Medical College of Wisconsin in 14 years total over $4.4 million. Promising breast cancer and prostate cancer research by past recipients of WBCS grants has led to over $12 million in additional extramural research grants awarded to the Medical College of Wisconsin by the National Institutes of Health and other foundations.
