Small Stones: A one-stop health resource center
Small Stones provides answers to your most challenging health questions. It is staffed exclusively by nurse educators and offers a wide range of informational resources. Small Stones will help you better understand and improve your health. Check out the extensive array of books, audio/video tapes, yoga and exercise accessories, beauty and bath items, journals, new mom gifts, aromatherapy oils and other great ideas.

Small Stones is located at 17145 W. Bluemound Road, adjoining the Harry W. Schwartz Bookshops Brookfield store in the V. Richards Plaza. Small Stones is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Community Health Resource Center

  • Medical College of Wisconsin Library, located on the third floor of the Medical College Health Research Center, the library is open to the public during the academic year Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to midnight; Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 8 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. - 8 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m.- midnight.     The Froedtert and Dynacare Community Health Resource Center (CHRC), a joint program with the Medical College of Wisconsin Libraries, offers a wealth of informational resources for patients and their families. The CHRC is located on the second floor of the Froedtert & Medical College East Clinics building and is staffed by Medical College librarians.

          Resources available within the CHRC include:

                 -    Computer stations with Internet access

                 -    Medical books and periodicals 

                 -    Videotapes on relevant healthcare topics 

                 -    Video viewing room

Nutritional Counseling Service
Diet is an important part of fighting cancer. The Froedtert & The Medical College Cancer Center enjoys the services of a full-time registered dietitian to assist patients with their nutritional needs. For more information, call (414) 805-4489.

Support Groups
Information, education, and encouragement are offered in free support groups that are open to the public. For more information, call (414) 805-3055 or the contact number listed under each group. Please call to confirm time, date, and location.

  • Head and Neck Cancer
    This support group is for any patient who has has had cancer of the head and  neck.  Spouses and family members are welcome.

    Meets the first Tuesday of every month.  Cancer Center Conference Room, Froedtert Hospital East, 3rd Floor  11 am to Noon

Prostate Cancer

or US Too of Southeastern Wisconsin Prostate Cancer Support Group, Froedtert PSDA-Prostate Survivor Alliance. 

The chapter meets the first Thursday of the even numbered months (Feb, April, Aug, Oct, and Dec) at 5:30 - 7:00 pm at Froedtert Memorial Luthern Hospital, West Side 1st Floor, Helfaer Confernece Rooms A & B.  Attendance is free to everyone.  We have a GREAT group of men that have had a variety of treatments and have been survivors for a varying number of years.  Many of our members have expressed that they "appreciate the camaraderie to help relieve apprehension and not feel so alone"

Our main focus for 2007 is to provide more community outreach programs to provide education about men's health, prostate cancer awareness/prevention and also to reach out to newly diagnosed as well as prostate cancer survivors to offer support.  Many of the men ot this group have become advocates to spread awareness of prostate cancer to their own communities.

  • Many area hotels and motels offer discounted rates to Cancer Center patients. For more information see the Lodging Resource Guide.
  • Kathy's House, 600 N. 103 Street, Milwaukee, WI 53226, is located about a mile from our affiliated hospitals, is an independent hospitality house where out-of-town patients, family members, and caregivers can stay overnight. There is no charge, but donations are appreciated. The lodging is comfortable, offering 18 private bedrooms with baths. (414) 453-8290 or

Public Transportation - The Cancer Center is served by three Milwaukee Transit System bus routes, #10, #67 and #31. Travel time from Downtown Milwaukee is about a half hour. For rider information, call (414) 344-6711.
