Population Sciences Research Program Seed Grant, Winter 2014

The Cancer Center is accepting applications for the Population Sciences Research Program Seed Grant and will fund 1-2 one-year $25,000 awards.

The Population Sciences Program aims to improve cancer outcomes and to reduce disparities in outcomes. The Program seeks to fund seed grant projects which will advance these aims in the areas of access, quality and/or comparative effectiveness, as well as implementation science. Preference will be given to Principal Investigators who do not presently hold NIH funding. This call for applications is aimed at building intra-programmatic collaborations that would lead to opportunities to secure extramural funding and promote T3-T4 translational research.

To be eligible for this funding opportunity:

  • The Principal Investigator must hold an MCW Faculty appointment and be a member of the Cancer Center Population Sciences research program.
  • AS seed grants are an investment in the future of MCW, our programs, and investigators, an applicant’s employment status with the College must be in good standing, and faculty who have given notice or received a termination notice are not eligible.
  • MCW Cancer Center members who have already received a Population Sciences Research Program Seed Grant may not apply until at least one year after the end date of that award.

Special Instructions:

Population Sciences Members who apply for the Population Sciences Seed Grants may also apply other Winter 2014 seed grant opportunities for which they are eligible. For example, if you are applying for a Population Sciences seed grant, you may also apply for the ACS Pilot Grant.

If you wish to apply for both the Population Sciences Seed Grant and a second mechanism, please submit two applications and budget documents, one for the Population Sciences seed grant, and one for the second mechanism. If you are applying for two different mechanisms, please contact Mike Anello, who can provide support and shortcuts to the process.

Applications for the Population Sciences seed grants will be reviewed and scored with by the Clinical Trials Seed Grant Review Committee, with additional members selected by the Population Sciences program leaders. The scored review sheets for the Population Sciences seed grant application will be forwarded to the program leaders for the final selection of awards.

Only Population Sciences members are eligible for the program seed grants.
