Novel Cancer Research Project Grant
$30,000 for One Year
Applications will be accepted in fall of 2012 for support of novel new projects in any area of cancer or cancer-related research. Funding for Novel Research Project Grants is provided by Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin (AHW) Research and Education Program funds. Only applications with an MCW PI will be accepted. MCW faculty with full-time or full professional effort status are eligible to serve as Principal Investigators for AHW funding; adjunct and part-time faculty are NOT eligible to apply for AHW funding through the Novel Research Project Grant mechanism. This grant category is NOT restricted to junior faculty. MCW faculty who have never received previous support from the MCW Cancer Center are encouraged to apply. The maximum award is $30,000 for one year. No salary for faculty investigators is allowed, but support may be used for the salary and FBs of a fellow or technical support, for supplies and essential services for the project, or for a combination of these. Preliminary data that support the experimental hypothesis and approach should be included in the application. Requests will be accepted in all areas of cancer research. At least four awards are anticipated. Successful applicants must meet the non-supplanting requirements of the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin program. Earliest start date is January 1, 2013. Deadline for e-Bridge submission of your application is September 26, 2012. PDF file of the complete application is due at the Cancer Center by October 3, 2012. Supporting materials should be sent to the Cancer Center as a separate, single PDF file. See application form for additional details.
[Special note: MCWCC members who have an active MCWCC grant or who received previous intramural support from the MCWCC may not apply until at least one year after the end date of their current or previous funding. The project must be new and distinct from any work previously supported by the MCWCC. Previously funded applicants must describe how the new project redirects or further enhances their cancer focus.]
